As the start of the new school year draws to a close, our teachers’ training has become more intense to better prepare them for the challenges that will face them in the upcoming school year. In collaboration with St. Augustine Publication, Inc., YASCI was able to organize an extremely effective writeshop. Our educators from various departments attended the event on August 5, 2023, all eager to gain a deeper understanding of effective curriculum planning and assessment techniques.
The writeshop was conducted by Dr. Evangeline C. Lindayag, a seasoned academic specialist with a plethora of knowledge and experience.
Curriculum Mapping Made Easy
Dr. Lindayag began her presentation by delving into the complexities of curriculum mapping which is an important tool that supports educators in matching their teaching practices with educational objectives. Our faculty members were introduced to a complete approach to curriculum mapping, emphasizing the importance of coherence, progression, and relevance in creating a great curriculum map.
Through collaborative activities and discussions, the teachers received insights into the art of scheduling lessons, integrating interdisciplinary connections, and creating a seamless learning experience for students. The sessions stressed the significance of tailoring curriculum maps to different learning styles and capacities to properly cater to each student’s educational path.
ToSting in Testing
In the second part of the writeshop, Dr. Lindayag also covered the art of matching assessments with desired learning objectives through hands-on exercises and practical demonstrations, fostering fairness and openness in the evaluation process. The sessions stressed the importance of TOS in generating relevant education and delivering targeted interventions to fulfill the learning needs of students.
As the writeshop came to an end, it was evident YASCI had taken a significant step toward establishing a community of educators with the skills and expertise to mold people in academe. This effort will surely have an impact on classrooms.
