The United Nations Celebration 2024 brings YASCI students together to honor global unity, understanding, and cooperation under the theme “Rekindling Connections: Trust and Cooperation for a Shared Future.” This year’s celebration aims to inspire students of all ages to learn about different cultures, respect diversity, and appreciate the importance of trust and collaboration in building a harmonious world. Across grade levels, YASCI students will participate in various activities designed to deepen their understanding of global culture and history while celebrating the shared values that unite us.
Senior High School students had the chance to experience cultural heritage through movement and music in the Dances of the World 2024 event, where they performed traditional dances from different cultures around the world. By embodying the essence of each nation through dance, music, and traditional costumes, students highlighted the importance of cultural preservation and fostered a deeper appreciation for global diversity.
For the youngest students in primary and intermediate levels, the day will be filled with vibrant activities that encourage creativity, cultural curiosity, and teamwork. Through the Flag Art Craft activity, students will design and create the flags of different nations, learning about various countries and their symbols. The World Map Puzzle, another exciting activity, will help students gain a geographical perspective of where countries are located and how each nation fits into the bigger picture.
In Guess the Flag, students will be introduced to the flags of the world, challenging them to match flags with their respective countries, thereby promoting recognition and memory skills. Rounding out these activities, Beyond the Bite will introduce students to the culinary traditions of different nations, where they will taste flavors that define diverse cultures and traditions from around the world.
For Junior and Senior High School students, the celebration will focus on knowledge, creativity, and a sense of global awareness. The History Quiz Competition will encourage students to deepen their understanding of global history, challenging them with questions on key events and figures that have shaped our world, while fostering teamwork and friendly competition.
In the Flag Naming activity, students will test their knowledge by identifying the flags of countries worldwide, honing their understanding of national symbols. The Poster Making activity will allow students to express the theme of “Rekindling Connections” through art, creating posters that illustrate the importance of global unity, trust, and cooperation, using visual storytelling to communicate powerful messages about global connection.
Several special highlights promise to engage and educate students of different ages in unique ways. The Clash of Historical Icons 2024 will bring history to life as Junior
High School students portray influential leaders, philosophers, and change-makers from different countries and eras. This creative event offers an insightful exploration of significant historical figures and their lasting impact on our world, encouraging students to appreciate global heritage and history.
For our youngest participants, Mr. & Ms. United Nations 2024: The Talented Duo will provide a delightful talent showcase in which preschoolers will represent various countries and showcase their unique abilities. This event will
celebrate the enthusiasm of our preschoolers, who will embody the spirit of unity as they charm the audience.
The United Nations Celebration concluded for preschoolers with Coronation Day, which saw the crowning of Mr. and Ms. United Nations 2024. These young ambassadors embodied the values of kindness, respect, and camaraderie, inspiring even the youngest in our community to value unity and friendship.
The United Nations Celebration 2024 is a powerful reminder that, despite our differences, we all share common dreams of peace, cooperation, and a brighter future for all. This event encourages YASCI students to embrace a global perspective, nurturing compassion, respect, and awareness of the interconnected world in which we live. As we celebrate these activities, we are reminded of the importance of rekindling connections—of learning from one another and working together toward a world built on trust, cooperation, and shared purpose.
