Young Achievers’ School of Caloocan, Inc. recently celebrated Mathematics and Science Week 2024 with the theme “Fusion of Forces: Unlocking the Mind’s Potential through the Keys of Science and Mathematics.” This week-long event, filled with exciting activities and competitions, was designed to inspire students to explore the wonders of math and science in an interactive and engaging manner, catering to all levels—Preschool, Elementary, Junior High School, and Senior High School.
The youngest learners at YASCI enjoyed a series of hands-on and creative activities that brought math and science concepts to life. Preschool and elementary students participated in fun challenges, where they performed simple experiments. Activities were tailored to encourage curiosity, foster creativity, and help children understand the fundamental principles of mathematics and science while enjoying the process.
Junior High School students were presented with activities that highlighted the practical applications of math and science. They showcased their problem-solving abilities, which encouraged experimentation and innovation. A Science Exhibit also featured student-created projects that illustrated their understanding of key scientific concepts, such as physics, chemistry, and biology.
In addition to these challenges, students participated in a Science Trivia Quiz Bee and a Mathematics Puzzle Race—two exciting competitions that promoted teamwork, critical thinking, and friendly competition among their peers.
Senior High School students took their math and science journey to a higher level with activities designed to challenge their analytical skills and understanding of advanced concepts. They demonstrated how mathematics can be applied to solve real-world problems. To further stimulate interest, students worked on team-based projects that highlighted their technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and creativity.
One of the most anticipated events of the week was the Mr. Mathusay & Ms. Aghamazing 2024 competition. This unique event combined academic excellence with charisma, where students competed in talent segments, Q&A portions, and a quiz round related to math and science.
The candidates demonstrated not only their intellectual capabilities but also their passion for these subjects, making it an event to remember. The winners, Mr. Mathusay and Ms. Aghamazing, were selected based on their knowledge, confidence, and ability to present themselves as inspiring ambassadors of learning.
The culmination of Mathematics and Science Week was a celebratory program that featured various performances, awards, and reflections on the activities that took place throughout the week. Students, teachers, and even parents came together to recognize and appreciate the efforts of all participants. Awards were presented to the winners of the different competitions, recognizing their outstanding skills and knowledge. The Culminating Program also featured a showcase of some of the most innovative projects, highlighting the creativity and dedication of YASCI students.
