Celebrating YASCI’s Most Beloved Teachers on World Teachers’ Day

by: Shanara Vennize B. Santos

The Young Achievers’ School of Caloocan Inc. came together to celebrate World Teachers’ Day. It was a day of appreciation and gratitude, as well as an opportunity to recognize the school’s most beloved teacher in a competition organized by the Student Government Council (SSG). This competition, aptly named “Most Lovable Teacher,” saw students expressing their gratitude by writing letters to their teachers. The teacher who received the most letters would earn this special title, and even those who didn’t claim the top spot would hold a special place in the hearts of their students.

The title of “Most Lovable Teacher” for the Junior High School category was awarded to Mr. Jerome Obrence. One student shared her reason for writing a letter to Mr. Jerome, saying, “The SSG team decided to support Sir Jerome because he’s our adviser. But the content of my letter was filled with greetings and a heartfelt thank you. He’s not just kind; he’s humorous, easy to connect with, and a hassle-free teacher.”

In essence, it wasn’t just about his role as the SSG adviser; students appreciated his approachability, care, and kindness. As the day came to a close, YASCI’s teachers received simple yet meaningful tokens of gratitude. Students organized a delightful surprise—a dance presentation performed in front of the teachers and staff members. Alongside the performance, each teacher and staff member was presented with a symbolic rose, signifying the love and appreciation the YASCI students hold for their educators.

The celebration became a cornerstone of the YASCI community, instilling a culture of appreciation and acknowledgment for the incredible work done by teachers. It set the tone for ongoing support and recognition, ensuring that the bond between teachers and learners continued to flourish, creating a nurturing and supportive educational environment at the school.

It was a celebration not just of a day but of the enduring commitment and appreciation for the guiding lights of knowledge and wisdom in the lives of the learners at YASCI.
