1st Quarter Mental Health Seminar for Learners: “Self-Preservation: Changing the Narrative on Suicide”

In an effort to foster a deeper understanding of mental health, the YASCI community successfully held its 1st Quarter Mental Health Seminar for learners, themed “Self-Preservation: Changing the Narrative on Suicide” from August 16 to 18, 2024. This important initiative aimed to create an open and compassionate space for dialogue about mental health issues, focusing on the crucial topic of suicide awareness and prevention.

The seminar featured an insightful discussion led by Mrs. Olivia Tadeja, our esteemed resource speaker, whose expertise and compassionate approach set the tone for an impactful and meaningful exchange of ideas.

Mrs. Tadeja’s ability to address the sensitive topic of self-preservation helped attendees reframe their understanding of mental health, encouraging them to prioritize their well-being and take proactive steps toward maintaining a healthy mindset.

A special mention also goes to our guidance associates, whose creativity shone through in their carefully designed psychosocial exercises. These activities were not only engaging for our younger learners but also fostered a sense of belonging and collaboration. Through fun and meaningful group activities, participants were able to form connections with their peers, reinforcing the seminar’s theme of community and mutual support.

The openness and active participation of our dear YASCIans were particularly noteworthy. Many students courageously shared their personal stories and thoughts, demonstrating their willingness to engage with the subject and support one another. Their contributions enriched the seminar and played a pivotal role in achieving its core objective: promoting a safe, supportive environment for all.

Through these collective efforts, the YASCI community has further solidified its commitment to fostering a compassionate and mentally healthy learning space. By creating an atmosphere where everyone feels valued and understood, we are working toward building a brighter and more empathetic future for our learners.

As we continue to advocate for mental health awareness, we thank all the participants and facilitators for their invaluable roles in making this seminar a success. Together, we are shaping a healthier, more understanding community, where the well-being of every individual is prioritized and respected.
